Shogakko Rei (the order of primary school) (小学校令)

Shogakko Rei (the order of primary school) was the imperial edict (order) to establish the elementary education system in modern Japan. It was issued in 1886 to abolish the previous education order from Arinori MORI, Minister of Education and afterwards it was totally revised twice. It had been in effect for more than 50 years until Kokumin Gakko Rei (the order of elementary school, Imperial Edict No. 148 of the 16th year of Showa era) was issued to replace it in 1941.

The one originally issued and the ones later revised were called the First Shogakko Rei, the Second Shogakko Rei, and the Third Shogakko Rei respectively.

The First Shogakko Rei: Shogakko Rei (Imperial Edict No. 14 of the 19th year of Meiji era)
The Second Shogakko Rei: Shogakko Rei (Imperial Edict No. 215 of the 23rd year of Meiji era)
The Third Shogakko Rei: Shogakko Rei (Imperial Edict No. 344 of the 33rd year of Meiji era)
